the shooting death of a santa rosa teen by a sheriff's deputy and many in the community are still outraged by what happened. today the sheriff had a private meeting with representatives of the latino community. there was also a day long rally and a march. allie rasmus was there and joins us live. >> reporter: at one point there were about 1,000 people who had gathered in front of the sonoma police station. but they want the sheriff's office to make some changes. protesters sent that message to sonoma county sheriff deputy, as though deputies stood guard around the sheriff's office and the roof. the shooting death of 13-year- old andy lopez by a sonoma county sheriff deputy has outranged the community. the rally was put together by a latino group m.e.c.h.a. >> some people heard this had been organized by occupy oakland, by answer, that they were bringing bus loads of people here and it had not been organized by them. >> reporter: members of several other citizen groups heard about the protest and did take buses from oakland and other parts of the area to come here to attend. john burres spo

. >>> protestors marching right now for a second straight day in santa rosa demanding justice for 13-year-old andy lopez. an investigators told the "san francisco chronicle" that the deputy who shot and killed lopez last week can't remember if he identified himself as a deputy before that shooting. our own ryan takeo with more on the tense moments leading up to the teenager's death. >> reporter: now investigators are releasing new information about the case and it's raising a big question. did the deputy involved identify himself as law enforcement before shooting? it's not clear right now. the deputy, according to the "san francisco chronicle," told an investigator that he did not remember if he did in fact identify himself before shooting. the deputy claims the 13-year- old andy lopez turned to him with what he thought was a rifle, that's when deputy erick gelhaus started shooting. it was a toy gun. this is the second high-profile protest in as many days. this will go through the streets of santa rosa a mile to the old courthouse downtown. organizers say there will be many more of these protests

the shootng death of 13-year old andy lopez santa rosa police say a witness who was in the area heard sheriff deputy erick gelhaus order lopez twice to drop what he believed was an ak-47 rifle twice. and gelhaus himself said he knows he yelled at least once to lopez to drop the rifle. but gelhaus said he is unsure whether he identified himself as a sheriff's deputy. police also say lopez was wearing a hooded sweatshirt but his hood was down. lopez was also not wearing andy headphones or earbuds. also, police say a second deputy was with gelhaus in the car, but by the time the second deputy got out of the car, the subject was engaged and the threat was the teenager charged with saw trying to shoot a romantic rival and stealing the lamborghini of celebrity chef guy fieri was found guilit in marin county. 19 year old max wade was found guilty of one count of premeditated attempted murder for firing shots into a pick up truck in april of 2012. he was also found guilty of auto theft and posession of stolen property in connection with the 2011 theft of a lamborghini belonging to celebrity chef guy
